Happy New Year all - the fun snow storm was short lived for us. Folks who don't know Arizona often think we live in the warm desert. Somewhere between 2:00 and 3:00 am when Todd got up to to stoke the fire - the thermometer read -23 degrees (I didn't want to mess with the camera at the hour- just wanted to run water through the pipes and go back to bed). We were only a negative 17.3 at about 6:30 am.
I (Todd) have to say though it was a wonderful relief to wake up in the New Year in a warm house. After such a long haul working on the house- to find it still warm was such a relief. Especially since the log I threw in at 2 am didn't catch and the fire went out and it was still a balmy 66 degrees. The chickens also made it through the night- I went out to feed them a mix of oatmeal, corn meal and black oiled sunflower seed to help fill the bellies and ramp up the calories and was great by a beautiful moon to start the new year.
Glad all your hard work on the house has paid off
