Hey all, Todd here. Owen, Macey and I ran down to Dead Horse Ranch State Park today in Camp Verde for a little bit of fishing. A beautiful 70 degrees and sunny. The kids rocked at fishing - about an hour and a half of just fishing - no catching. We were throwing everything Daddy had in his tackle box and no luck. Even stuff we had had luck with a while ago.
Owen got his casting down pretty good and was talking about wishing he were a duck. Macey - began to get a little bit of casting down towards the end.
Towards the end a about a half hour before the park closed, a guy gave us some home made dough ball. Owen hooked into a fish or two, but they spit the hook. He was frustrated, but unphased. Then out of no where Macey hooks into a fish (with a little help from Daddy, we landed the fish and she went crazy - screaming and jumping up and down). Then after a State Park volunteer kindly reminded us that the fishing area closed in 15 minutes, Owen lands a nice little rainbow. Since it was hard to keep the tip up on a Scooby Doo rod, I started grabbing the line, hand over fist and chucked the fish in the the bucket before even trying to mess with removing the hook.
We ran to the parking lot, grab the camera a I tried to get a pose with the fish. Owen was ready to just grab on, Macey wasn't so sure and was squealing with uncertainty, so I just snapped the picture. As we were driving out - Owen said he would share his with Mommy and Daddy. But I had already promised pizza on the way home so he may have just been buttering up. They asked to go fishing again soon. Salmon six pack - here we come!
Owen and Macey ...Nice fishing! I am still trying to catch my first!
