Cool community
All this snow has made Todd and I really thankful that we live where do. Not because of crazy weather, but because Mountainaire, and Flagstaff as a whole, has proven to be a really cool community of people where others are usually pretty happy to help someone out. Mountainaire has reminded us how lucky we are to be surrounded by such great people. The snow kept coming and we were all in the same boat: too much snow, nowhere to put it, and tired of shoveling. Halfway through the week I opened the curtain one morning and Todd yelled, "Whoo hoo! My shoveling buddy's home!" Jeff across the street had been out of town for the first few days of the snow storms, and Todd hadn't gotten in his social-hour shoveling. For them, chatting away with a beer or brandy slush stashed in the snow, the time passes so much quicker. And that's the scene for most of us here. Yesterday when we were beginning to feel defeated by the snow, Gene from down the street walked over with his shovel and told Todd that he was sick of looking at his driveway, so he thought instead he'd look at ours. When ours was clear, he and Todd walked back to his place and they tackled his driveway. Another neighbor has a plowing business and every time he drives home he drives down our street to push back the berms at the end of our driveway and some other neighbors. And today Todd saw that the guy next door was up on his roof, ours was already done, so he jumped up to help him out. And even a bigger bonus - lots of kids! Owen and Macey have been playing with lots of neighborhood friends which has been really nice since we haven't been able to go anywhere for a few days. There are so many great families here, which is so nice, especially since we are so far away from our own. We're learning all the time how important it is to appreciate what we have, and remember that we have it pretty darn good!
